Zebra Onyx Necklace

This is a Zebra Onyx Necklace that I recently made for sale. The necklace is made with 1.5mm black genuine leather cord. I tied the cord with adjustable sliding knots allowing you to adjust the length to your preferred fit.

To make the pendant I cut slabs from the original rough stone. From there I shaped the cabochon on a Flat Lap, drilled a hole, and finally smoothed and polished the stone to finish.

Zebra Onyx is a calcite mineral that is primarily sourced from Mexico. The stone is known for its black and white color and unique banded patterns. The banding is a result of alternating layers of black and white calcite on top of each other. The unique banding is similar to crazy lace agate another mineral found in Mexico.

Contrary to its name there actually isn't any onyx in this stone. Onyx is a type of chalcedony while zebra onyx is a calcite mineral making it much softer and easier to work with than traditional Onyx.

The length of the necklace cord at the longest setting is about 31" and 16" at its shortest.

The dimensions of the pendant stone are 1.80"x 1.62"x .24"
The weight of the necklace is 21 grams.
