Porphyry Leather Necklace

This is a Porphyry Leather Necklace that I recently made for sale.

The necklace is made with a genuine leather cord tied with adjustable sliding knots and is copper in color.

Porphyry is an igneous rock formed from cooled magma. Compositional differences cause portions of the magma to cool at slower rates which creates the angular feldspar crystals found in porphyry. The color of the feldspar crystals varies depending on proportions of mineral impurities in the stone. The pinkish orange color of the feldspar likely indicates Orthoclase with some iron staining likely a result of sitting in the iron range of Northern Minnesota.

I found the original rough stone while rock hounding the North Shore of Lake Superior.

The length of the necklace cord at its longest setting is 29" and 16" at the shortest setting.
The dimensions of the pendant stone are 1.62"x .95"x .27"
The weight of the necklace is 24 grams.
