Porphyry Cabochon
This is a Polished Porphyry Cabochon that I recently made. Porphyry is an igneous rock formed from cooled magma. Portions of the magma cool at a slower rate than the surrounding matrix which results in unique angular feldspar crystals forming throughout the stone. I found the original rough stone while rock hounding near Mankato Minnesota. The dimensions are 2.4"x 1.15"x .15", The weight is 26 grams.
