Dugway Thunderegg Face Polished

This is a face polished Thunderegg from the Dugway Geode Beds in Utah.

Dugway Geodes formed in air pockets of Rhyolite where groundwater slowly deposited silica over time resulting in chalcedony formation.

The original rough material was collected on a rockhounding trip to Dugway Utah near Topaz Mounatin. It was quite the pilgrimage to get to the location about 50 miles on gravel and 3 miles on a very primative rocky road.

This Thunderegg displays some agate banding with reddish blue chalcedony which is uncommon among the pieces that I brought back from my trip.

The dimensions are 3.25"x 2"x 1.2" The weight is 3.53 oz
