Dugway Thunderegg Face Polished

This is a face polished Thunderegg from the Dugway Geode Beds.

Dugway Geodes/Thundereggs formed in air pockets of Rhyolite where groundwater slowly deposited silica over time resulting in chalcedony formation. This is why Dugway geodes often have agate banding and botryoidal chalcedony within them. The Chalcedony inside the thunderegg often has unique patterns that take on the shape of its host rock.

I sanded the surface of the stone to expose the chalcedony pattern then I face polished the sanded surface to give it a shine. The original rough material was collected while on a rockhounding road trip to Dugway Utah.

The dimensions are 1.5"x 1.17"x .94", The weight is 25 grams.
