Dendritic Agate Cabochon
This item is a Dendritic Agate Cabochon made from a type of dendritic agate known as "Sweetwater Agate. I self collected the material on a rockhounding trip to Wyoming. To make this item I hand cut the stone with my lapidary saw and polished it with my flat lap machine.
Sweetwater Agate is a type of dendritic moss agate found near the Sweetwater river in Wyoming. The agates supposidly formed in the "Split Rock Formation" so they are often found near this location. The stone closely resembles Dendritic Moss agate from Montana. I found the original rough stone while hounding near Green Mountain Wyoming just south of Jeffery city.
The dimensions are 29mm x 19mm x 6mm The weight is 4 grams or 20 carats.
