Black & White Porphyry Cabochon
This piece is a Black and White Porphyry Cabochon. Porphyry is an igneous rock formed from cooled magma. Feldspar crystals within the magma cool at a slower rate than the rest of the surrounding matrix resulting in unique angular patterns throughout the stone. I found the original rock near Mankato Minnesota while out rock hunting. The dimensions are 2"x 1.5"x .28", the weight is 28 grams.
