This piece is a Binghamite freeform cabochon that I recently made. Binghamite is an iron rich chalcedony that only forms in the Cuyuna Iron Range of Minnesota. It is characterized by fibrous thread like patterns that sometimes exhibit chatoyancy also known as the cats eye effect. The dimensions are 2.1"x 1.45"x .27", the weight is 28 grams.
